Stabilization project for Sant Antoni and Es Monestrí beaches

Good news for Calonge and Sant Antoni!

State Coastal Authority has definitively awarded the beach stabilization project for Sant Antoni and Es Monestrí. The company Rubau Tarrés has won the public tender with a bid of 3,166,589 euros, taxes included.

The works are expected to last approximately eight months.
The project includes the construction of two new breakwaters to extend the existing ones: a first emerged breakwater of 150 metres with a submerged extension of 130 metres, and a second emerged breakwater of 215 metres with a submerged extension of 100 metres.

It is planned to transfer sand from Palamós beach to Sant Antoni beach to maintain a minimum width of 15 metres. The aim is to ensure a minimum width of 50 metres between the dry beach and the submerged beach throughout the year, protecting the beaches from storms and preventing damage to the seafront promenade.
