Calonge i Sant Antoni Town Council has renewed the beach facilities for this season, with an investment of more than €120,000, aiming to improve and increase the quality of services and make beach access and use easier for everyone, with comfort and safety.
The number of stainless steel handrails has been increased at several points along the beach, specifically with 4 new ones which, added to those already in place and the 7 existing rope handrails, bring the total to 12 access points where beachgoers can enter and leave the water in complete safety. In addition, shower islands have been created, complemented by beach urban furniture, and new walkways have been installed to facilitate access to the beach and the water.
At the same time, Calonge i Sant Antoni Town Council has strengthened the assisted bathing service, as it continues to support access to bathing for people with reduced mobility, reinforcing this service as well as improving the facilities and extending the opening hours.
During the summer of 2021, more than 1,500 assisted baths were carried out at l’Abast beach in Torre Valentina, placing Calonge i Sant Antoni in a leading position in terms of assisted bathing for people with reduced mobility on the Costa Brava.
With this investment, Calonge i Sant Antoni Town Council reaffirms its commitment to making the municipality a first-class family and quality tourism destination, and to keeping it among the most highly valued tourist destinations on the Catalan coast. The beaches of Calonge and Sant Antoni have also renewed this year the 4 Blue Flags for the beaches of Es Monestrí, Sant Antoni, Torre Valentina and Cala Cristus-Ses Torretes, demonstrating the council’s commitment to the environment, safety and accessibility.
